FAQs

Do I need a referral?
No. You can self-refer by contacting us directly.
Do you work with insurance or case managers?
Yes. We regularly provide assessments and reports for medico-legal and case management clients.
What does a typical assessment involve?
We start with a detailed conversation and functional assessment, followed by personalised goal setting.
Can sessions be done remotely?
Yes. We offer secure online therapy sessions, ideal for flexible support.
What conditions do you specialise in?
At ProActive Therapy, there is no limit to the conditions we treat. However, we do specialise in neurological rehabilitation, including stroke, brain injury, and post-concussion syndrome (PCS). We also support clients with functional difficulties due to dyspraxia, long COVID, fatigue, trauma, and neurodivergence (e.g. ADHD, autism).
Where are your services delivered?
We offer in-person therapy across Merseyside and surrounding areas, as well as online sessions UK-wide. Home visits are available if clinically appropriate. Additional travel costs may apply outside the Liverpool area.
What should I expect during the initial assessment?
The first session includes an in-depth conversation about your needs, medical history, daily challenges, and goals. We may assess your physical, cognitive, sensory, and functional abilities, and recommend a tailored therapy plan.
How long are therapy sessions?
Initial assessments typically last 90 minutes. Follow-up sessions are usually 60 minutes, although this may vary depending on the nature of the therapy being delivered.
Do you offer packages or discounts?
Yes. We offer reduced rates for block bookings and ongoing therapy packages. These can be discussed and customised following your initial assessment.
Can I access therapy if I live outside Liverpool?
Absolutely. We provide virtual therapy services nationwide. In-person visits can be arranged if travel is feasible and appropriate for the intervention.
Do you provide reports or documentation for universities, employers, or legal purposes?
Yes. We can provide occupational therapy reports to support academic adjustments, workplace accommodations, legal proceedings, or medico-legal claims. These may incur an additional cost based on the level of detail required.
What happens if I need to cancel my appointment?
We ask for a minimum of 48 hours’ notice for cancellations. Cancellations made after this period may be subject to a fee, in line with our cancellation policy.
Are you HCPC registered and insured?
Yes. All therapists at ProActive Therapy are HCPC registered and fully insured. We are also members of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) and the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT).
Do you offer occupational therapy for children or adolescents?
Our services currently focus on adults (18+) but we do treat children. For specialist paediatric occupational therapy, we can provide referral pathways to trusted colleagues.
What makes ProActive Therapy different?
We combine over a decade of clinical expertise with a person-centred, functional approach to rehabilitation. We take time to understand your goals and work in partnership with you to rebuild confidence, routine, and independence.
